The Franklin Fishing Club
The Franklin Club: Toronto’s very best fly fishing club.
I love life in the city. Toronto is full of amenities that you cannot find anywhere else. For this reason, it’s a great place to live, or even just visit. Toronto is the only city of it’s kind. It has all of the big city feel, without much of the angst, impatience and frustration that comes with a place like New York City.
But where do you fly fish in Toronto?
One of the reasons The Franklin Club is so appealing to me as a fly fishing destination is that it’s a quiet, deserted and relaxing place (this escape is naturally one of my favourite things about fly fishing). It feels like a world away, but the club is only a quick 45 minutes North East of the city. I can whip away after work Friday, make the most of my time Saturday and easily be back to the city in time Sunday to get a handle on the inevitably busy week that’s bound to be coming up.
You won’t find 200 acres of lakes and forest this serene anywhere else in the GTA.
I am a practical man who likes to spend as much time as possible capitalizing on casting opportunities. Even when you discount the fantastic services and comforts the Franklin Club, the amazing member community and the array of related outdoor activities that are available for impatient family and friends, the ease of access and quality of fish make it a stand out location when it comes to local Toronto fishing clubs.
But don’t let me sell you on it. Check it out for yourself. Make your own decision.
I also recommend, if you are looking for a place to fly fish around Toronto, you read about what to look for in a fishing club before making any final decisions.
